Ben Casey, a Greenville College student, received honorable mention for this year’s Fall Contest, with his poem “are you of my”. Below is his piece.

are you of my? (Heart?)

i will not question with sound

the (Heart?) takes trouble to talk out loud.

it’s staring to

still liquid? seeing

likeness to the crystal

expanse

and to think it a friend?

or are you of my?

rushing ravines meet

in waves, it wades.

we meet on this day.

“are you of my heart?”

I lied on the second.

But only to myself.

are you of my? (Heart?)

(maybe it’s just the echo)

and maybe It’s just the echo.
