Flood and Drought – Haleigh Koppelberger

Sometimes there are rushing waters
Ideas cascade down
Crash onto the banks of reality

The words come in a flood
Ink pouring over paper
Fingers rushing across a keyboard

The world is all rapids and raging eddies
Wild and uncontrollable
A force to be reckoned with

Sometimes there’s nothing but a drip
Drip
Drip

The words don’t come at all
Blank paper
Untouched keys

The world is all drought and blazing sun
Mirage and illusion
Inspiration always just out of reach

And you wonder
Is there any peace and productivity
Between the flood and the drought?
