Radiance – Kendall Farr
I captured this photo on my first trip to St. Louis, MO, in 2017. The Gateway Arch gets its name because St. Louis is known as the “Gateway to the West,” and this title was very fitting for my visit. As a new college student at the time, and as a person who had left their home and everything they knew for a new adventure, seeing this monument and learning its history felt like I was a part of it all. I was diving headfirst into the unknown, just like the thousands of settlers before me discovering what lies beyond. It made me feel connected to my surroundings in a new way, and gave me comfort in knowing that I wasn’t alone in my fears of uncertainty.
