the path – Samuel Spring

sudden heavy rains
cut new riverbeds in the path;
branches and roots and
creases in the palm.

red wood rips
the fabric of the sky
while heathered clouds
journey on westward.

in the late slant of sun
the tracks of the wolf-dog,
pressed forever in man’s wake,
fill with rain also.

blue eyed blue jays
tear vivid streaks
through the breath
of living canopy

wide enough just
for the sun to fall down
on my outstretched hands.

Sam Spring is best known for his songwriting work in the musical duo “Tennis Club” with their song, “Morning” eclipsing 5,000,000 plays on Spotify alone. The 26-year-old has just started sending out work in the hopes of connecting with more like-minded people.
